The remodel of the sole remaining anchor store of a demolished mall into a vibrant shopping center is a prime example of adaptive reuse. Another sustainable feature of the remodel is the use of xeriscaping and a number of features to mitigate stormwater runoff from the parking lot. These features include rain gardens, permeable pavement, and bioswales. These features help to reduce the amount of stormwater that enters the storm sewer system, which can help to improve water quality.
